PowerPoint is built for live presenting and iterative editing — neither of which is what you want when you are sharing the finished deck. PDFs lock the layout in place, preserve fonts, and present consistently on every device. They are easier to attach to emails, post in shared drives, and archive long-term.

Common reasons to convert PowerPoint to PDF include sending a sales deck to a prospect who does not have PowerPoint, distributing internal training materials, archiving board presentations, submitting investor decks to portals that require PDF, or sharing slides on social media platforms that preview PDFs natively.

A .pptx file is technically a ZIP archive containing XML slide definitions, embedded media, and theme data. The tool uses JSZip to unpack the archive in the browser, parses each slide's XML to extract titles, body text, and bullet points, and locates embedded images stored in the media folder.

The extracted content is then rendered onto PDF pages using pdf-lib, with text positioned to mirror the original slide layout where possible and images embedded at their original quality. The resulting PDF has one page per slide.

Handled with reduced fidelity: precise text positioning (text is laid out logically rather than pixel-perfect), custom fonts (fall back to standard PDF fonts), complex master slides, advanced typography effects.

Not supported: animations and transitions (PDFs are static documents), embedded video and audio (the PDF retains the position but does not play media), complex SmartArt and chart objects (text content is preserved but the visual rendering simplifies).

Presentations frequently contain confidential business information — sales pipelines, product roadmaps, financial forecasts, customer names. Uploading these to a server-based converter creates real exposure.
